The 2nd Faculty Development Plan of Clinical Medical School of Tsinghua University was officially launched

  On the evening of May 10th, the second Faculty Development Plan (FDP) of Tsinghua University was officially launched. David Roberts, Dean of External Education of Harvard Medical School, Academician Dong Jiahong, Dean of Tsinghua University Clinical School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School teacher training program leader and operation team, 103 students from the School of Medicine, Clinical School of Medicine, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, Huaxin Hospital, Yuquan Hospital, Capital Children's Research Institute attended the launch ceremony of the program. The launch was presided over by Ajay Singh, senior associate dean for graduate medical education at Harvard Medical School.

  

David Roberts

  David Roberts, Dean of External Education at Harvard Medical School, said in his address that the joint program between Harvard Medical School and Tsinghua University Clinical School of Medicine, now in its second year, will help students change their mindset, acquire teaching skills and transform themselves from teachers to educators. This will have a positive impact on students and schools. David Roberts mentioned that Harvard Medical School is very proud to be working with Tsinghua University Clinical School of Medicine. Harvard Medical School hopes that this program will bring better learning content and experience, and looks forward to the students' learning experience.

  

 Dong Jiahong

  On behalf of the School of Clinical Medicine of Tsinghua University, Dong Jiahong first expressed his heartfelt thanks to colleagues from Harvard Medical School. He said that the holding of the second teacher training program will continue to promote the cooperation between Harvard Medical School and Tsinghua University in medical education. Dong Jiahong reviewed the past two years of collaboration with Harvard Medical School in medical education. The first teacher training program has been successfully completed in 2020. It is expected that the first students will apply the knowledge, theories and teaching strategies learned to clinical teaching practice. As a student of the second teacher training program, Dong hopes that he and every student will cherish the opportunity to learn advanced teaching concepts and methods, and actively participate in the medical education reform of Tsinghua University.

  

Jeremy Richards introduces the arrangement of the faculty project

  Jeremy Richards, Course Leader of the Teacher Training Program of Harvard Medical School, introduced the overall plan of the Teacher Training Program of the Clinical Medical School of Tsinghua University in 2021, the training theme and content, the training content of the first workshop, the teaching staff, the assignments and examination requirements, and the detailed arrangement of the course Q&A, etc.

  

Jeremy Richards teaches adult learning theory

  After the launch ceremony, Jeremy Richards delivers the first lesson of the 2021 Teacher Training Program -- Adult Learning Theory. Adult learning theory attaches importance to curriculum design based on adults' psychological characteristics and learning motivation, and pays attention to student interaction, so that students can change from passive indoctrination to active learning. Jeremy Richards introduces teaching strategies and methods based on adult learning theory, problems, difficulties and solutions, and expects students to actively apply adult learning theory in their daily teaching activities.

  The School of Clinical Medicine attaches great importance to the construction of the teaching staff. Starting from 2020, it will complete the training of 300 clinical teaching teachers in three years, so as to build an international standard of clinical teaching staff. In 2021, a total of 103 teachers of the School of Clinical Medicine participated in the teacher training program, and many senior professors and senior clinical teachers actively signed up for the training.

  The School of Clinical Medicine of Tsinghua University has signed a cooperation agreement with the School of Continuing Education of Harvard Medical School , under which Harvard Medical School will assist in the training of clinical medical education teachers of Tsinghua University. Based on the advanced teaching philosophy of Harvard Medical School, the program specially designed the Faculty Development Plan (FDP) for the Development of clinical medicine education in Tsinghua University to improve the teaching ability and level of clinical medicine teachers in Tsinghua University. The training will focus on curriculum design, teaching methods and teaching evaluation, and will be monitored and evaluated by a committee of experts composed of Harvard Medical School and the School of Clinical Medicine.
