Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital (BTCH) affiliated to Tsinghua University is a non-profit comprehensive public institution jointly managed by both the Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals and Tsinghua University. During its construction, the hospital received a generous donation from the Formosa Plastics Group and Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The hospital is located in Tiantongyuan, Changping District in Beijing, and it officially opened on November 28th, 2014 with 1,500 beds available during the first stage of construction.The hospital became a designated National Medical Insurance hospital in November, 2015, and has been able to directly reimburse medical expenses remotely since June, 2017. On December 30, 2019, the second stage of construction was officially laid, with an additional 500 beds planned to be completed by the end of 2024.On November 25, 2021, the hospital officially became an A-class designated medical institution of the city’s basic medical insurance, and medical insurance personnel in Beijing can make settlements in realtime without choosing a designated medical institution.

Urology has become the World Endourology Society Fellowship training base and is also approved as the European Urology Society "Set up" urology endoscopic surgery standardized training project. In December 2018, the hospital was approved as the first batch of the National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Center.In September 2022, it was approved as the first surgical basic skills upgrading training base of the National Health Commission.

Supported by the strength of comprehensive subject advantages offered by Tsinghua University, BTCH takes solving clinical problems and meeting social health needs as its engine, and takes the combination of engineering with medicine as the breakthrough point to establish a health technology innovation system driven by clinical problems. BTCH is also a national drug clinical trial institution and a national medical device clinical trial institution.In November 2021, BTCH was approved as the Beijing Engineering Research Center for Key Technologies of Smart Health Consortium. In September 2022, the Institute of Organ Transplantation and Bionic Medicine of Tsinghua University was established based on the hospital.In October 2024, Beijing Visual Science and Translational Eye Research Institute was established.

Learning from the experience of Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, BTCH has established a sound social service work system and set up a volunteer service team to provide warm services for patients. The hospital has set up the Tsinghua Changgung development fund and the social service fund to collect social donations to develop clinical medicine and help patients with difficulties. In response to the Healthy China Action, the hospital holds nearly 100 public health lectures and free clinic activities every year.
