（Translated By YU.Y.C.）Recently, the list of 15 awardees for the 2025 Tsinghua University "Tanzhen Scholar" program was made public. Wang Zide, a 2024 doctoral student at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital was awarded the title of "Exploration and Excellence Scholar" by Tsinghua University and plans to visit Harvard University in the United States.
It is learned that Tsinghua University has launched the "Tanzhen Scholars" program since 2025, encouraging outstanding doctoral students to visit renowned universities at home and abroad or conduct in-depth exchanges and academic visits in line with their thesis directions. Relying on their advantageous resources, they can carry out continuous, innovative and exemplary interdisciplinary research projects to serve high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology, accelerate the cultivation of high-level compound innovative talents in fields urgently needed by the country.
Wang Zide, a 2024 doctoral student in neurosurgery, is under the guidance of Dr. Wang Guihuai, a professor at the Clinical Medical College of Tsinghua University and the director of the Neurology Center at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital. Under the joint guidance of Professor Wang Xiumei from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tsinghua University, he is engaged in a joint training program that integrates medicine and engineering. The credit grade is 4.0/4.0. As the first author, two SCI papers have been published in international journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal. The research results have been cited many times by international top journals such as Nature Reviews and Clinical Oncology.He has applied for one invention patent and made one oral presentation at an international conference. He has received honors such as the National Scholarship and the title of Outstanding Graduate of Shandong Province.

The clinical transformation team led by Wang Guihuai and the biomaterials team led by Wang Xiumei have been deeply collaborating in the interdisciplinary field of medicine and engineering, focusing on the research and application of biomaterials for spinal cord regeneration and repair. They have jointly trained seven doctoral students. In the past five years, more than ten SCI papers have been co-published in international journals such as Advanced Fiber Materials, Bioactive Materials, and Biomaterials. Multiple invention patents have been applied for, and the research and development achievements have entered the experimental stage of preclinical large animals (Beagle dogs, crab-eating monkeys, etc.). Rich experience in clinical translational research has been acquired in this team.
